Joe Polimeni

The photographer Joe Polimeni has worked with United Press International and has photographed presidents, royalty, supermodels, Olympics, et cetera. He is now a contract photographer who photographs executives, fashion and auto shows, along with family pictures such as: engagments, weddings, senior pictures, et cetera. Lastly Polimeni states that "as an official photographer for the Olympic Torch Relay, [he] photographed the Olympic Flame's progress through 48 states in 65 days and had the privilege being a Torchbearer."

Ballerina Project

"...The Ballerina Project is an ongoing series of photographs created by photographer: Dane Shitagi. Constructed over the span of 15 years the Ballerina Project is not your typical 'dance photography' but an etching of a ballerina's heart and emotions."

Dane Shitagi was born in Hawaii and in 1996 he moved to "...New York City where he was able to be influenced by the city's vitality and diverse atmosphere. Instead of limiting himself to the confines of a studio... [he] explores all aspects of the location he photographs in.... Dane is most known for his creation of the Ballerina Project."

These photographs were taken by another blogger: Skelelegs, who used an under light to get the over dramatic lighting to achieve a more terrifying or gruesome look. The artist also sculpts, sews, and photographs; their main subject is bones and skulls.

Felix Gonzalez-Torres produced work of uncompromising beauty and simplicity, transforming the everyday into profound meditation on love and loss."

This piece is representative of Felix's partner, "...Ross Laycock, who died of an AIDS-related illness in 1991. The installation is comprised of 175 pounds of candy, corresponding to Ross's ideal body weight. Viewers are encouraged to take a piece of candy, the diminishing amount parallels to Ross's weight loss suffering prior to his death... the pile should be continuously replenished, thus metaphorically granting perpetual life."
